In 2015, International Jazz Day AZ Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was established as the presenter of the “Official International Jazz Day AZ Festival” with a mission to sow the seeds of jazz in the unique location of Phoenix AZ for generations to come.
The founder, Dr. William “Doc” Jones, had great foresight and believed that Arizona 's International Jazz Day AZ Festival would one day grow into a major success. And it has. The 7th annual Arizona International Jazz Day festival has blossomed into three concerts in the Phoenix Valley and two in Mexico. The Official International Jazz Day AZ Festival concerts attract thousands of visitors to Arizona pumps millions a year into the local economy.
Moreover, proceeds benefit local community organizations that support and develop arts and jazz music programs for youth at risk. In 2017 those organizations are the Boy Scouts of America and NextStudent Academy (www.nextstudentmusic.com) , a local 501(c)3 organization that works with local schools to make jazz music education and instruments available and accessible to students from kindergarten through college
